Kong Telecommunications Service Provider Boosts High-Performance IPTV,
Broadband Internet and Multimedia Services with Juniper's E320 Routers
Juniper
Networks, Inc., the leader in high-performance networking, today
announced that Hong Kong-based telecommunications service provider
PCCW IMS Limited ("PCCW") has increased the scale and
performance of its broadband network with E320 Broadband Services
Routers. The E320 improves the capacity and performance of PCCW's
broadband network and fully leverages the existing installed base
of Juniper E-series routers.
PCCW
has combined the granular bandwidth management, high performance
and reliability of the E-series portfolio with the sophisticated
policy management of SDX-300 Service Delivery System, which is an
important component of the Juniper's Session and Resource Control
portfolio, to offer flexible, high-quality and individualized services
such as now TV broadcast along with its interactive and Video-On-Demand
(VOD) service, Netvigator broadband Internet access, and the fixed-line
PCCW eye multimedia service.
"We
have adopted the E-series platforms since now TV was launched in
2003, and we are impressed with the performance of Juniper E-series
routers, especially the E320. Its proven high performance, scalability
and density enabled us to efficiently extend our now TV and broadband
services at scale," said Dr. Allen Wong, Director of Product
Development and Management at PCCW. "We offer a range of innovative
media content and interactive services across different platforms
which require a highly, secure, scalable, and manageable broadband
routing infrastructure that adapts to change."
The
E320 supports high subscriber density, high system capacity and
high density Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces,
enabling PCCW and other service providers to effectively support
the high bandwidth, large scale demands of next-generation IP-based
services, such as IPTV. In two years since introduction, the E320
has achieved broad market acceptance, as evidenced by its current
install base of nearly 800 platforms, deployed in over 70 provider
networks worldwide.
"As
a leader in real-world IPTV deployments, PCCW offers a view to the
future of next-generation IP-based services in other parts of the
world," said Adam Judd, vice president of Asia Pacific for
Juniper Networks. "One of the keys to success in this area
is balancing performance, cost and flexibility. The E320 in conjunction
with the Session and Resource Control portfolio offers the ideal
solution for the large scale deployment of next-generation services
such as PCCW's, fueling subscriber and service growth."
