Com Asia, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation,
announced today the grand opening of the group's new data centre
building located in Tai Po, Hong Kong. The opening of the data centre
marks a new chapter for NTT Com Asia, which is also celebrating
its 10th anniversary in town. Under the theme "A new decade.
A new perspective of space", the ceremony held at the data
centre was officiated by Mr. Chan Yuk Tak, Eddy, JP, Commissioner
for Innovation and Technology, Innovation and Technology Commission,
Mr. Daisuke Matsunaga, Deputy Consulate General, Consulate-General
of Japan in Hong Kong and Dr. Samson Tam, Member of Legislative
Council (Information Technology).
Since its establishment in Hong Kong in 1999, NTT Com Asia has been
offering world-class telecommunications services to enterprises
in Hong Kong and Greater China, and dedicated to fostering ICT industry
in the region. Mr. Masaaki Moribayashi, President & CEO, NTT
Com Asia Ltd. remarked at the ceremony, "Looking back over
the past 10 years, I am deeply impressed by the support of our customers
and our people, which is the solid foundation NTT Com Asia built
upon and the reason for our continued development. In the days ahead,
NTT Com Asia is committed to offering high quality ICT services
by investing in developing innovative solutions and staff training
to help enhance customers' business operations and growth."
"The new NTT Communications Hong Kong Data Centre is the embodiment
of the company's resolution to explore business in Greater China;
it also demonstrates our philosophy of perfection and innovation.
We made every effort to ensure excellence in the infrastructure
design, facility management and operations of the data centre; and
we are determined to be a leader in this arena and to be a frontrunner
ushering in the new ICT generation." Mr Moribayashi added.
The main theme of the Opening Ceremony ---- "Space", highlights
one of the most outstanding aspects of the data centre. The 7-storey
building has a gross area of up to 212,100 square feet, providing
more than 3,000 racks after fully equipped to meet the fast growing
needs. Initially, in 2007, NTT Com Asia built a data centre on the
first floor of the building, which was then owned by APTT. To accommodate
customer demands, NTT Communications made a bold step at the end
of 2008 to acquire APTT for 161 million HK dollars, and to upgrade
the entire building into the current dedicated data centre.
NTT Communications Hong Kong Data Centre has been built to achieve
the Tier III+ infrastructure level. Every aspect of its facilities,
including power, cooling, and telecommunications systems are fully
redundant to avoid single point of failure and to ensure business
continuity. Just one year after its "soft launch", the
data centre has successfully acquired the ISO27001:2005 Information
Security Management System (ISMS) certification, which is a testament
to NTT Com Asia's professionalism in managing the safety of customers'
data and equipment.
Apart
from the data centre, in the first half of this year NTT Com Asia
will launch a series of virtualization solutions ranging from virtual
hosting to virtual infrastructure. The solutions will be capable
to optimize the utility of servers, power and space to achieve cost
effective and environmental friendly purpose.

「空間」作為是次開幕典禮之主題，充份展現大埔數據中心之優點。該數據中心樓高7層、總樓宇面積達212,100平方尺，可提供逾3,000層架，寬敞面積迎合各行業對科技急速增長之需要。大樓原屬亞太衛星電訊有限公司
(APTT) 持有，NTT Com Asia 2007年起於一樓設立數據中心，鑑於客戶殷切需求，2008年年底決定再下一城，以1.6億港元收購亞太衛星電訊有限公司，將整幢大樓擴建成現時的全方位數據中心。
該數據中心為本港最頂尖的Tier III+結構規格，每項設備包括電源、冷卻系統、防火及電訊網絡皆配備多向來源，同時具備供香港各大電訊商連接的設施，確保全面之危機管理，即使是地震或嚴重事故下均能維持正常運作。數據中心由「軟開幕」至今謹謹一年已成功獲取ISO/IEC
27001：2005國際認可之資訊安全管理系統(ISMS)認証，證明NTT Com Asia對客戶信息安全之高度重視。
除數據中心，NTT Com Asia亦全面拓展其他多元業務，本年度將推出虛擬方案，為客戶提供虛擬伺服器及其他虛擬硬件，能同時迅速地執行多功能運作，提升硬件應用效能，幫助企業充分善用科技資源，節省硬件成本及電力，綠化環境。
